The Journal of Colton Robertson
April -30-1863
The war is raging on and the Confederate soldiers seem to be winning most of the battles in my opinion. We need more troops and better supplies. I can tell that this war is not going to end until enough blood shed to fill a sea.

Now the action really starts to pick up, today is the day that we kill General Lee. Our commanding General Joseph Hooker told us “May God have mercy on General Lee, for I will have none” those words sent our camp up in flames with courage and our morale went through the roof.

As we get ready to attack General Lee we need to stock up on our weapons, some of us don’t even have a gun so we are supplied one, depending on what type of soldier we want to be. Me I had a Spencer Repeating Rifle, magazine fed and one of the only type of gun at its time. Most of the other troops were fools and did not take the Spencer Repeating Rifle but instead they took Springfield Model 1861, this gun was a good one because it had a great amount of accuracy and range and reliability, it fired a .58 caliber minie ball. Personally I like the repeater because I am a good shot with anything that shoots, and with a gun that every time I pull it shoots I can take out a lot of those southern traitors.

General Joseph Hooker assigns me to artillery ammunition supplier. In addition to that I am supposed to gun down every enemy I see without holding back, if he is wounded on the ground shoot him dead so no mercy and make him feel the pain of the fire’s of Hell. So that is what is going to happen.
May-1-1863 3:00 P.M.
As we prepare for the most gruesome battle the world has ever seen our bones are rattling like and xylophone with a heavy metal drummer playing it. Though we stand tall with our weapons in hand our attitude is great like the cause of our fighting. So I can have time to prepare myself, I gather artillery rounds for each mortar. I am only assigned one Cannon to bring ammunition for preparation is the most valuable thing that we have.

Well the war is fully blown right now I am resting in my tent because the ammunition for the artillery is full to the point of overstock. After examining my Spencer repeating rifle I am now going to journey out to snipe those confederate fools, this may be my last entry so if so let it be known that I would rather die for a noble cause such as this than live with a world divided.
May-1-1863 6:51 P.M.
It happens to be that General Hook has asked me to accompany him onto the battlefield as a personal bodyguard. He said “your valiant efforts on the fighting plain are respected and taken as a personal favor to President Lincoln.” I gunned down almost 17 confederates but when hand to hand combat came into play I sliced open 4 soldiers from the opposing side. One of the most inspiring things about this battle is that we basically double the confederates.
May-3-1863 5:39 A.M.
It has been probably about a day or two since my last entry but the fighting has increased those confederates are not giving up. General Lee has a very brilliant war strategy because both their offense and defense are almost impenetrable.
May-3-1863 4:17 P.M.
Our offense has pushed on and the confederates are falling back we are feeling like we have one this battle.
May-4-1863 6:52 P.M.
We have to fall back the battle is lost, our men still have a great number, the enemy has flanked us. General Lee broke the first rule of warfare, never ever split your forces, that traitor his dirty warfare has completely brought down all respect for the south at least they fought through four horrid days but then General Lee goes and completely hits with a low sucker punch to the stomach.
May-4-1863 8:27 P.M.
The rage that I am in is almost as great as the pacific ocean, the grim side of me has come out, the monster has been unleashed.
